Scuba Diving

In 2007, Lois introduced me to Scuba diving and I absolutely love it.  I did the first part of my PADI training in Cincinnati and then Lois and I took a trip to Turks and Caicos Islands, where I finished my Open Water Diver certification.  We saw a 4-5 ft. Nurse Shark, a Barracuda, Lobster, Hawksbill Turtle and a 9-10 foot Reef Shark.  The underwater world is wild and beautiful and anything I write here will be inadequate.  We visited the U.S. Virgin Islands in April 2008 for another dive trip and completed our Advanced Open Water Diver course while there.  In October, 2008, Lois will spend a week in the Florida Keys diving with her two girlfriends, while I spend a week in Bonaire, shore diving.  In the next year, we intend to undertake Rescue Diver training as well as Divemaster training and to spend our winters in the Caribbean, enjoying the water and sun.

Our "Pet" Grouper

While visiting Turks and Caicos Islands in 2007, Lois and I had a remarkable encounter with a three foot grouper.   She swam up to us under the water at about sixty feet down and rolled her eyes as we petted her.  We tickled under her chin and stroked her pretty back while she hovered motionless in front of us.  After a while, we swam away with some other divers and she followed our group as we descended a wall to about eighty-five feet.  This was our peak experience during our visit to those islands!
